The Hole — the Ruins of Old Paineel — is the abyss the Erudite heretics tore open with magic they shouldn't have used, dropping their old city into the depths. Beneath the shaft waits a vertical ruin of elementals, constructs, and the restless dead of two civilizations, descending toward the domain of the exiled god Brell abandoned. It is among the deepest, hardest crawls of the era.

Dangers
- The entrance drop is literal — mind the fall, and know that getting OUT is a quest of its own.
- High-level dead and golems patrol in layers; every floor down raises the stakes.
- See-invis is common and the respawns are unforgiving — this is a zone for prepared groups, not tourists.
