North Karana Quests

Say: “hail”

Hail, traveler! You are free to rest within this keep or within any of my towers along the roads to Qeynos. My guards shall keep watch over you. While you tread upon the roads, be warned that there are [local dangers] as well as rumors of [corrupt guards].

Say: “corrupt guards”

I have heard rumors of dissension among my guards. I will reward any fine resident for the death of these traitorous guards. If you find you must kill one, bring his guard bracelet back to me. I cannot allow such men among my guards. Be sure they are corrupt, or I shall have your head as well.

Say: “local dangers”

My guards report daily to me of dangers in the plains. Lately, they've been telling me of rumors of [Lord Grimrot].

Say: “lord grimrot”

My guards have heard rumors of this Lord Grimrot. It is said that he is a powerful shadowknight who is raising an army of undead. Such things should be reported to the Temle of Life. Journey to Qeynos and speak with Camlend Serbold. Tell him of Lord Grimrot.

Say: “hail”

Greetings! I am Cordelia, a traveling piper. I am afraid I cannot play a tune for you, however, as my [flute] is gone.

Say: “flute”

I traded my flute to a hermit in the southern plains of Karana. I had a spare flute, but that was taken from me by some bandits. If you could find this hermit and ask him for my flute back, I would be most appreciative.

Say: “hail”

Welcome. I am Ezmirella.

Fangbreakers? You have not heard of us? We are the best [werewolf] hunters there are!

Say: “werewolves”

Those blasted fiends hide among normal folk during the day, but at night their bloodlust is set free on an innocent populace. Some claim there is a cure for their condition but the only one we know of is an [enchanted blade] through the bellies of the beasts.

Say: “enchanted blade”

Interested in an enchanted blade? You wouldn't be planning on hunting the moon beasts without a strong, well-oiled party to back you up, now, would you? Well, in any case, I'll gladly lend you a copy of my book, Fixxin Followigs Silvery Blades, if you will fetch me a bar of silver. My supply is running low and our weapons are in need of repair after the deaths of so many lycanthropes.

Say: “creepies”

Besides the occasional werewolf, we also tend to run across many griffons and hill giants out this way. Those giants can be bruisers but against a trained team such as we, they don't stand a chance. Especially with my enchantments protecting us.

Say: “hail”

Hey. hey! I have some Blackburrow Stout for sale. Just hand over five gold and I'll give you a bottle of it. Don't get caught though because it is considered [contraband]. [Antonius] don't like it being smuggled and all that but what does he know. anyway?

Say: “contraband”

Well it's brewed by gnolls, ya know. Don't know exactly why it's considered contraband but I think it's because they use the money they get from selling the stout to buy arms. I dunno. I buy low and sell high. Blackburrow Stout is good for you though! It does wonders for me! Now buy some already before someone hears us talking.

Say: “antonius”

That man is as clueless as a froglok tad swimming in a keg of dwarven ale! He has no idea what is going on around him. He won't be around for much longer I wager.

Say: “hail”

The 'Concordance of Research' is an aid to those who follow the path of academia. It, and its sister books, 'Runes and Research,' volumes I and II, help those who are [interested] in researching spells.

Say: “interested”

I have several copies of each book. If you want a copy of 'Runes and Research', volume I or II, bring me a lightstone and I will give you whichever book I have more of at the moment. Bring me a greater lightstone, and I will give you a copy of the 'Concordance of Research.

Say: “hail”

It is about time I met up with someone who I can tolerate. Most of the residents within these plains shun gnomes. I will happy to leave if I could just find those [pesky skeletons].

Say: “pesky skeletons”

I was sent here by the Gemchoppers to seek out a pocketful of skeletons. They are a creation of a one of Ak'Anon's exiled citizens. He practiced the dark circle of magic and came to find the necromancers of Antonica. He created and imported undead brownies to this realm. We must find them to study them. I can't seem to find them!! If only I could find a [brave fighter] to assist me.

Say: “brave fighter”

Very good. Take this tin box. Fill each slot with the remains of the tiny undead, should you find them here. I know not how many there exists, but I am sure that if I return this full tin box shall suffice. Be quick, I have other matters to to tend to. I shall depart when next my sun dial points to eight.

Say: “hail”

Yes. My bark is blackened and cracked by sickness. If only I were the only one to be afflicted this way. Throughout the lands this is happening. Agents of some dark god are twisting the lands and their creatures.

Say: “dark god”

Not long ago, a human passed through this area. Around him swarmed some aura of sickness. Few could see it but with my age I could recognize a bringer of the plague. He seeded the area with pestilence before I could lift a branch to stop him. I believe it was he, and others in other lands, who has helped bring about this sickness.

Say: “sickness”

I have kept in touch with friends of Tunare and Karana. It seems something is building amid the darkness. Some pact between gods to corrupt. All I know for sure is that you can stop the sickness in this land. I can feel it, vaguely. Somewhere, in the mountain and lake areas, and far north amid the cold mountains is where the land hurts most. Go, find the sources of corruption, and bring them back to me. Three should be their number.

Say: “hail”

I see you have purified that stone. Can I look at it?

You make my limbs ache. There is something unnatural about you. What is it?

Greetings, small one! I am Xanuusus of the Stormreapers. You are welcome to rest beneath my mighty branches.

Say: “help”

Well, I suppose I can help you a little, small one. There are three principles expressed in my lovely poem.

First one must defeat a worthy enemy of the Storm Lord, as you obviously understood from the second stanza. Seek a weapon born by one that would shackle the world if he could. He takes his name from his home, as if to claim it as his own.

Secondly one must aid a friend of the Storm Lord. There is one that considers himself small and worthless. Heal his heart so that his bare feet may roam again.

Finally one must perform and act of faith in the Storm Lord. When you have accomplished the other tasks, return to me and we shall again speak of this act of faith.

Stay close or this won't work. It is better that you do this, for trees are not very well structured to withstand lightning.
